The NYC Teaching Fellows is an alternative certification program for individuals WITHOUT the academic background in education required to earn a teaching license. If you have a current or expired teaching certification (in any U.S. state or territory, including New York State), you will not be eligible to apply to any NYCPS alternative certification program.
If you have an expired New York State certification, here are some ways that you can learn more about your next steps through the NY State Education Department (NYSED). The NYCPS does not manage teacher certification for the state of New York. You must contact NYSED.
